Maui OnStage Opens Season with a Mysterious Comedy - The Mystery of Irma Vep Maui OnStage Opens Season with a Mysterious Comedy - The Mystery of Irma Vep What is likely to be the laugh hit of Maui OnStage???s season is ???The Mystery of Irma Vep, a Penny Dreadful???. The title ???Irma Vep??? is an anagram (we???ll let you figure that one out) and Penny Dreadful relates to the 19th-century fiction genre that seeded the pulps. Charles Ludlam???s sidesplitting gothic spoof uses the sleight-of-hand magic trick of two actors playing eight roles, requiring constant costume, wig and personality shifts that will keep you laughing as the mystery unfolds. The numerous roles in Irma Vep are expertly filled by Tom Althouse and Alexander Cardinalli, last seen together in Maui OnStage???s ???Little Shop of Horrors???. The production is directed by Terry Berliner. The Mystery of Irma Vep runs Weekends November 17th through December 3rd. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sundays at 5pm, with a special opening night Gala dinner at 6pm on November 17th only. Performance tickets are $18 for adults and $16 for seniors 65 and better and students, with a special bargain matinee price of $12 for every seat on Sunday.
